He was quietly added to Buffalo's roster back on Jan. 19. He had accrued four years of playing experience in the league in stops with Kansas City, Cleveland and Oakland. But who exactly was Mark Word? Bills pro personnel director John Guy aimed to find out.
"He had a couple of productive years in Cleveland as a situational type guy," said Guy of the defensive end. "Then he went to the Raiders and played heavier in their 3-4 scheme, but was waived in the summer." more (http://www.buffalobills.com/news/news.jsp?news_id=3778)

He won't make it to the 3rd pre-season game.

I remember he was a strong player back when he was in a Ti-Cat unifom.

I think he'll be okay. He's a better pickup than Oliver Gibson was. Remember him?

Mark Word was an excellent pass rush specialist while a member of the Cleveland Browns. Problem was he couldn't play the run worth a damn. In passing situations, I'd be all for a line of Word, McCargo, Triplett and Schoebel. On rushing downs, this guy should be sitting on the sideline though.

I agree. 8 sacks as a situational pass rusher is pretty good, if he can do that for us it would be huge. And Im sure he can improve the rest of his game to be more of an every down player. Its not like it should be that hard to beat out Kelsay and Denney.

I would have thought at his size, he'd be a natural candidate for LDE, but he's getting his practice reps on second string at RDE. Whodathunk? He's down to 280 (from 295) and expects to play at 260-270.
