If Reggie Bush (http://www.nfl.com/draft/profiles/2006/bush_reggie) had hoped to wear jersey No. 5 for the New Orleans Saints in 2006, he's out of luck. The NFL's competition committee decided at the league's owners meeting here it will not recommend a change to the numbering system for jerseys for the '06 season, and it seems unlikely that it would do so for future seasons. more (http://www.nfl.com/news/story/9456833)

Good! No one player is bigger than the league. The NFL has the rule in place for many reasons and should stick to it.

Can you name one good reason let alone 3? Its a ******ed rule and if they are going to make exceptions they shouldnt play favorites. Let the No Fun League run wild!

This is quite possibly the most ridiculous rule in all of professional sports.

i think bush shuld be allowed a 3-digit number if so summoned.. why the hell not let him have 5? after seeing all of the recievers these days in the 11-19 numbers, I wouldn't see a problem with him having his old college number?

Thing I have to wonder is this...why #5? I realize it's his college number but why did he take that number in the first place? The rule's been around since before he was born. Didn't he realize he'd have to change it once he hit the NFL anyway? :idunno:

You have rookies like Eli saying where he doesn't want to play. Now Bush wants a no. The NFl needs to gorw some balls and not give in to unproven players.
