Holcomb starting won't lead to victories for Buffalo

With summer's training camp getting ever closer for the Buffalo Bills, there's been a lot of discussion as to who will be the team's starting quarterback next season. The Bills' top three quarterbacks, in no particular order, are Kelly Holcomb, Craig Nall and J.P. Losman. If Holcomb ends up being named the starter by head coach Dick Jauron, it likely won't mean big things for the 2006 version of the Bills. Instead, it'll simply mean more mediocrity for a team that has grown all-too-familiar with underachieving over the last six seasons. more

Great overall article. His last statement about Nall or JP not leading the team anywhere but having a 'punchers chance' is BS. JP could in fact become a damn good QB.

He is also wrong on another point, Holcomb was 3-4. JP won the KC Game. NFL can have its BS about awarding a win to a QB that flat sucked, Was losing when he was carted off of the field, and fumbled the ball away within the opponants 15 yard line. But FACTS are JP came in and won that game.

Holcomb 3-4. JP 2-7. Funny, 9 more years of experience = only one more win? I sincerely hope Holcomb is cut after camp. JP, Nall and one of our guys from NFLE should be our tandem come September

I took it as meaning this year which I think is somewhat accurate...new systems, new coaches, and hopefully no QB merry-go-round

Technically, the NFL awards wins to teams, not individual players

True, but when people talk about a QBs win/loss record they usually go with who started. Like this guy did, Bills 4-4 when KH started and 1-7 when JP did.

Unfortunately, I fear new excuses as well.

what about the RB's W-L record? or the MLB's or the SS's or the P's? Point is..it's ridiculous to even suggest that a single player has a W-L record in the ultimate team sport. Yes, QB is a high profile position, but by no means is it that much more important than other key positions like RB, MLB, SS, etc. Every position can have shortcomings that are covered up by the rest of the team well enough that they aren't that noticeable. Everyone raves about Big Ben's rookie season. He realy didn't do anything spectacular. He was surrounded by a hell of a team. If Big Ben was merely above average, they were going to win.

KH will be a decent caretaker. He doesn't have the physical ability to run a system that throws deep which is why I think he'll be gone once we have a back up that can come in and won't miss a heartbeat. I wish we had Volek instead of KH.

Holcomb would soon get a shot at Coaching, if he wants.

Like AVP or the Bills QB Coach,Turk Schoenert, he's a limited backup talent with good smarts.

He just couldn't get his arm to do what his brain wanted.

Giving the KC win to Holcomb is nothing but pure hatred from a non-Bills fan.

The records are 3-4 and 2-7. JP won the KC Game, Holcomb tried to fumble it away.

Nall will beat both of them out, IMO. Marv didn't bring him in to ride the bench.
