Most people assume it's going to cost them a fortune to come down to the HSBC Arena and buy a Sabers' playoff ticket from a scalper. But had they come Wednesday night, they would have stumbled upon the bargain of the year.
Last week tickets for the series sold out in 12 minutes in Buffalo, but it turns out the tickets for game three were not as valuable as some thought.
"Right now, we can't even get fifty dollars for a ticket," scalper Al Smith said.
Normally scalpers jack up the price of a playoff ticket, which at face value are worth anywhere from $100-200. But for Game 3 against Carolina, Smith said he and others had to sell their tickets for half-price.
"Not enough demand, too much surplus," he said.
