All: The new Billszone site with the updated software is scheduled to be turned on Tuesday, May 21, 2024. The company that built it, Dynascale, estimates a FOUR HOUR shut down, from 8pm Pacific, (5pm Eastern) while they get it up and running. Nobody will be able to post in any forum until they are done. Afterwards, you may need to do a web search for the site, as old links will not work, because the site is getting a new IP address. Please be patient. If there are bugs, we will tackle them one at a time. Remember the goal is to be up and running with no glitches by camp. Doing this now assures us of that, because it gives us all summer to get our ducks in a row. Thank you!
As you may or may not know, Mike Hollis is a free agent this year, after signing only a 1-year contract last season. We also have a choice of John Carney or Morten Andersen too. I'm thinking Hollis is the way to go. We should get him signed as soon as possible and hook him for 2 or 3 years. The biggest question is his kickoffs....maybe we'll grab a kickoff specialist to do them.
He's just as important as any of our other FA needs. A good kicker is more important then having a decent LB. We don't need another Jake Arians or Shayne Graham in here.
I'm not impressed with Hollis. He made very few clutch kicks, and his kickoffs were very unimpressive. We need someone who can at least kick the ball to the 5 yard line consistently.
Hollis never had to to Kickoffs before he came to Buffalo, You have to blame Brian Moorman for sucking at kickoffs as much as you can blame Hollis...I dont see anybody calling for Moormans head...Hollis has been nothing but great in Buffalo...sign him up.
Sign the guy. All I remember about Hollis was this year's Bills-Vikings game that I went to. We were sitting in the corner of the dome, almost parallel to the goal post. It was 1st down and 3 seconds left, Hollis kicked the 54 yarder to tie the game and sent it to overtime. He barely made it, as I saw the ball coming down onto the goal post on our side, bounced off the crossbar, and just fell over the other side.
We (sitting with other Bills fans) jumped out of our seats and screamed our butts off. Hollis was my hero that day.
Well Miyagi, you are correct, that was a great kick.
When he starts walking on rice paper and does the claw move, I'll sign him myself.
Don't forget Peerless, as everyone has seemed to, sucking in a clutch TD catch and turning the D inside out and running 3-400 hundred yards or so into the endzone.

Just for that, give him a contract extension!
I was there too, Miyagi-san! I take it you were sitting with the Bills Backers (as was I). There were some vikes freaks talkin' trash beside us, and the look on their faces when the ball bounced through was priceless. The TD in over time was Peerless! BTW, did I mention I hate the Vikings?
Gunslinger, were you really? Then I must've probably met you already. Wow what a weird coincidence. Were you at the pregame party at Runyon's too? Which one in this picture is you???
He was a little below his career average last year. 75.6?(give or take) compared to over 80% for the career. That includes a horrible 2001. So, up until then he was well over 80%. He was 3/5 from 50 out and 10/15 from 40 out. Ok, not great but ok for "long" balls. I think he was solid, he's not a choker. If you could keep him, why not? I don't think we need to really go after a kicker. Plus there aren't a ton of them out there worth anything. He does need distance on the kickoffs but it's tough to justify 2 kickers on the roster. Maybe the coverage team will work up to being "average" instead of god aweful and we won't be in constant fear on every kickoff.
