I think that if we can really open up the offence and press early I think we can establish a strong presance and show them that we're not gonna sit back and play D just cause we're missing some key guys.... if we can get one on the board early I think it will really show the 'canes that we're not to hurt to play!!!

GO SABRES!!!!!

Seems like the defense is playing not to get injured. I do not see them going down to block shots so far...Having no defense is definitely showing...

most telling stat after the first period? 8 give aways by buffalo vs 4 by car. I didnt see if giveaways lead to either goal, but that doesnt look good.

Looks like it was a good call by Laviolette starting Gerber. He looks sharp. :curse:

Ebenezer

Buffalo didn't play that badly...Gerber was a wall...a deflected shot and a PP goal...Buffalo has to get some shots from the inside...

I think he earned the start after the way he started cold off the bench last game...

yeah, 11 sog for buf in the 1st and more that went wide, gerber sounds like he is on top of things, other than that interference

Hope they step their play up even more in the 2nd and 3rd

All we need is a quick goal in the 2nd and we will be in good shape. We need to get the crowd back in it. <!-- google_ad_section_end -->

This team looks like they have given up! What the hell! Just like in game 2, this team has not showed up to play. Lindy needs to break up the Briere line because they look like they are just going threw the motions. I don't give a damn if they like playing together, they're not playing well enough to stay together.

Its just sucks that due to injuries and Carolina playing against basically a farm team on defense that the better team might lose this series. No way Carolina wins if Teppo and Tallinder were in there let alone Connelly and Khalinin. All they lost is one player.
The passes are not as crisp. At this point in the season you should have team chemistry. It seems like due to starting players that haven't been with them and shifting players around they do not have team chemistry...

I agree that if Buffalo loses this series it will be because injuries took their toll. However, they are still in this series...they're still alive for the cup and for them to come out and play like this AGAIN...is a joke. I would seriously look at benching Hecht for some of the third...he has been absolutely terrible.

Injuries are part of the game.

Sabres should have gotten other players more experience when they had a chance.

Excellent point. Feeling sorry for yourself and not competing as hard as you can, just because you suffered another injury is no way to go out.

SpillerThrills
05-26-2006, 08:11 PM
now correct me if I'm wrong, but I think that was one of the most evenly played 2nd periods of the series...... granted carolina got the goal and are up 3-0 but I think that we are right in the game and just need to get a bounce or 2 to go out way and we'll be right back in this thing.... anyone else feel this way????

Yea, your second period looked like ours did in games 1 & 3. We really need to keep the pressure on to bring the momentum with us back to Raleigh. (That's assuming we can hold on and finish this game off...)

Go 'Canes!

I agree that injuries are part of the game. It just sucks it happens when they are in the conference championship series...They really could not afford to go out and get anyone. If I recall the Sabres finished in the black only by 600K and they were 12 million under the salary cap

were they supposed to have 10 NHL caliber defensemen on the roster?? No NHL team was ready to lose 3 of its best 5 (if not best 4) defensemen this late in the playoff if at all.

They didn't even look that good. They didn't show up mentally and it begins with our "leaders", Briere & Drury...both were awful tonight. In fact, I can't name one player who played well.

Let's not refer to the Hurricanes as the "Katrinas" next time too. Tropical Storms are weaker than a Katrina. Just a thought.
