Hurricanes fan takes
a swing at Buffalo

Nobody does second like Buffalo.
Every time Carolina starts a series against a traditional hockey market, it's the same tired story about tobacco fields, hicks and general population stupidity. I find it quite amusing, especially this time. Its not even coming from a city with something going for it, like Toronto or Montreal or Detroit where there is a tradition of winning. Its coming from the industrial wasteland of Buffalo, who now can probably claim being the Mistake by the Lake, now that Cleveland has done something about its situation.
Most of us know that blue and gold were the colors of your previous hideous uniforms, and that you played hockey in the Aud, and that you got beat by the Stars when Brett Hull was in the crease. We also know all of the anguish you endured when losing four Super Bowls. Welcome to 2006. We've been waiting for you. Sports is not about finishing in second place, except in Buffalo. Now that is a catchy tourism campaign. Come to Buffalo, we're second! Enjoy your last few games of the season.

actually, hasn't Erie been building up a lot lately? I remember when there was virtually nothing south of the Millcreek Mall on Peach...though I will admit I rarely venture north of the Mall
