The Associated Press reports Houston Texans rookie DE Mario Williams (foot) will be sidelined for the rest of the week due to having the toenails on both of his big toes removed. Williams had the toenails removed Monday, June 5, after struggling with infections because of problems. "They were bothering him throughout the camp," said Texans head coach Gary Kubiak. "So instead of trying to fight it, they removed them. We're giving him a few days off to make sure it heals properly." Kubiak added that Williams would likely return to practice Friday, June 7.

Sounds more like ingrown toenails which can be very painful......I've had them and as a medic in the Army, removed them......it does take a couple of days to heal. The guy needs to learn how to trim his nails better and wear different shoes/sneakers

I had them and had them removed and what a difference it made after I healed from the operation. It can take a week or two to heal properly, but will make him feel a lot more comfortable on his feet, which isn't going to be good news for the guys who have to play head-up against him.

Infections from ingrown toenails are treated with an antibiotic like Keflex (old name), once the swelling goes down, then the ingrown toenail is removed.......anyone want details on how it's done??

I just thought it was interesting that another M Williams is out of practice for some seemingly silly injury
