View Full Version : If you were Tom Donahoe, how would you handle this offseason?

If I were Tom Donahoe, my first order of business would be to get rid of Jay Riemersma, and go with Dave Moore - he has better hands, and I think he's a better Tight End overall. Then that would extend our Cap Room allowing us to compete more with other teams for the services of players that will fill the most needs on our team.

Secondly, I'd make an offer to Takeo Spikes - remember he's a tagged only so that Cincy can match any offers from teams that offer him contracts - so he's still a very real possibility for us. (remember after the Bengals game - he was quoted as saying something like - "Buffalo feels like home", and "I just want to compete").

Then, I'd gather film on all of the available FA DTs and get all my LBers together and make them watch film on them (or send them footage of them to their homes during the offseason), and let them make the suggestion as to which one we should go after first since they're the ones that the DT will be helping out the most.

And then contact that DT and his agent, and bring them in for negotiations.

I think we will be good at Safety next year with Coy Wire, and Pierson Prioleau (however you spell it), so I'd just add depth at Safety midway (3rd round or later) through the draft (get a Coy Wire clone that has great coverskills, and punishes recievers the way Coy Wire punishes runningbacks)

Then I'd offer P. Price a fair offer - if he leaves, then good luck next season as a number 1 with no Eric Moulds on the other side.

i can't believe this....but i agree with almost everything you just said.

TD is an evil freakin' genious, i don't see him as the type to poll the LBs as to whom they would like to go after.

Other than that....good post.

No I didn't, I mess it up most of the time. If I spell it out a few times, I can get it right.

I figured since the DT is gonna be used to stuff the run, and deterr other teams from running up the middle on us, why not let the LBs get a good look at the DTs, and tell TD which one's tendencies they like the best, and which one they feel will keep the most pressure off of them.

Why is it so hard for you to believe you're agreeing with everything I said?

So Philster, how was Daredevil, does it show Jennifer Garners tits?

Or better yet, a full nude frontal?

Wait, does she wear like skin tight stuff throughout most of the movie? There may be hope for it yet.

If I were TD, I'd have fired GW, KG, JG and co. I would have hired Coughlin or Kubiak.

I don't know about firing GW, we might need to hold on to him for just this year to convince the FAs we want that there is stability in Buffalo.

I agree on Remiersma, though I want more than a warm body two replace him on the depth chart. We need three TEs on the roster. Two of them have to have at least some receiving skills. The third can just be a big blocker.

I'd make the offer to Spikes, but I'm not counting on it succeeding because I think it would have to be somewhere north of 5 mil per year to keep Cincinnati from matching. I think Clump did a nice post on what it would take to pry Spikes from Cincinnati. It was not encouraging. I would have my backup plan ready that would include offers to Mike Peterson and Anthony Simmons.

I don't have as dim a view of coachs and my pro player personnel guy as you do, ublink. If we have to depend on them to evaluate free agent DTs I think the Bills are in deep dudu. I'm excited about Tim Krumrie. I think he's going to unleash a can of whoop*** in Buffalo. If he and the Bills pro scouts get together, I think they can do all the evaluating necessary.

I looked at Ingtar's evaluation of Prioleau. That leaves me less comfortable than you about our safety situation. I think Buffalo needs to draft one in rounds 3 or 4 who has a chance to start by midseason. Prioleau is at best a backup safety, and more suited to SS than FS.

I'd make my offer to Price, but I'd also have to decide what I'm going to do with receiver personnel when he departs. Do I look for a free agent or do I draft a sleeper in the late rounds that might surprise?

Or you throw Josh Reed into the starting role. He'll catch on quick, and the more time he's on the field, the sooner he'll catch.
