Hey Marv...Pittsburgh is on the Phone and....

...They are offering a 4th round pick for Kelly Holcomb.

Do you take it and leave your team in the hands of a QB who fell well short of expectations in 2005? Even if he does better, do you take away the veteran saftey net and put the season in Craig Nall's hands if JP goes down with injury again?????

They also offered a 3rd for JP instead.

    Are you going to bite?

I know what you're trying to get everyone talking about, but it would never happen, so it's hard to discuss. IF they were to offer a 4th...I ask them if they want us to pay for Kelly's ticket to Pittsburgh. Give the ball to JP and let's see what he's got for a full year. If he falls on his face, then we finally know he isn't the answer and we go after another QB in the draft. IF he sucks, then we probably are looking at one of the top choices and a shot at Brady Quinn, so I don't see us losing either way.

What if JP actually does OK, the Bills get some momentum and pull an upset or two? But JP gets a little nicked up & goes down for 3 weeks.

Are you willing to trade away a capale backup who can potentally help keep the rest of the team moving & developing in the right direction or are you that desperate to eliminate any competition for Losman?

Let's get this straight. Holcomb is no competition for JP...he is a safety net for the coaches. He is like a baby and their blanket...they feel more comfortable when it is around, even though it is apparent that they don't really need it. However, you let them keep it so that they won't completely fall apart. That's what Holcomb is for the coaches...their security blanky.

I wouldn't pull the trigger. I was pretty happy when we brought in Holcomb to be the backup. He was better than Couch when they were both in Cleveland, IMO. He showed a better command of the offense and better on-field chemistry with his teammates at the 2003 scrimmage in Cleveland Browns Stadium against the Bills. If we were to pull off a trade like this, who would we replace him with? We'd pretty much have to bring in another vet, I would think. Biggest name I can think of out there is Maddox...and if Pittsburgh would rather trade for Holcomb than just grab up Maddox who's already interested in going back to Pittsburgh..you have to figure there's something wrong with Maddox

It isn't worth trading a 4th for Losman or a 3rd for Holcomb; the Bills have invested too much on the pair of QBs. Maybe if they offered it pre-draft but like with Willis, Bills invested one year where they got nothing for 1st year and need something more than 4th round pick or Losman is a bust. Likewise with Holcomb they gave him a contract to keep an experienced QB on roster to smooth over this transition and they would need another one and Maddox nor anyone available left from FA is right.

We are stuck with an overvalued QB and an under appreciated QB even if one of them is sought by another team.

                Which one is overvalued?

                And which one is under-appreciated?

That all depends each person's point of view.
Both phrases apply to both QBs IMO.

In my opinion, both only really apply to Holcombe - he is overrated by those who support us starting him, but like it or not, he did seem to run our O a little smoother for the most part last season - but IMO he's just not the answer.

We need to stick with JP through thick and thin this year and hope the good starts to outweigh the bad as the season winds down.

Unless Losman cam be relatively successfully, the Bills can not afford another thin year like last year with minimal yards passing. Fan base is too volatile to support losing team unfortunately.

At this point, I would take either a 3rd for JP or a 4th for Holcomb.

I'd take a 5th for Holcomb, depending on how well Nall is progressing.

No less than a 1st for JP.

i would have to pass.. the reason we picked up Holcomb was for security for backup.. except now we might be using him as a starter unfortunately. Either way I wouldn't trade him, with the hopes that the younger of the 3 QBs will come n take the starting spot n put KH where he should be. Backup.
