Minicamp Ends With All Three QBs Still Competing

As two months of minicamps and organized team activities came to a conclusion at One Bills Drive Wednesday the Bills still have three quarterbacks in the hunt for the starting job.
Bills head coach Dick Jauron is committed to opening training camp in late July with Kelly Holcomb, J.P. Losman and Craig Nall all taking reps in pursuit of the number one quarterback spot. more

    Deep passing game
There was an obvious emphasis on the deep passing game Wednesday as the quarterbacks were airing it out early and often in team work.

Craig Nall had a beautiful 60-yard bomb to Andre Davis that went for a would-be touchdown as Davis got behind Ashton Youboty on the play.

J.P. Losman threw an equally effective deep ball down the opposite sideline to Peerless Price. Price however bobbled it and couldn't make the reception as he got tied up by Terrence McGee.

When asked about the deep passing game Buffalo's head coach didn't shy away from its importance in his team's offense.

"Its part of our scheme and part of what Steve (Fairchild) likes to do," said Jauron. "Clearly we're going to need to run the ball effectively to win, everybody does, and in our climate we definitely have to do it. I believe we'll have a good mix."

And Kelly Holcomb threw a 5 yarder that was ran for another 55 yards in the deep passing game

hopefully the O-line will afford our qb the time to do "bombs".

Gee, no 60 yard Holcomb bombs?
Should have known, way back in 1960 when we drafted Richie Lucas Number 1, that this would be a long, hard ride. But who could have known it would be THIS bad?

Not when the ball dies about 30 yards out.

"We'd like to have one certainly step up and separate from the other two and make it clear,"

Well Dick, to do that you must give EQUAL reps with the first string offense. Which until this camp you clearly didn't.

This is beyond old now. We are about a month away from camp and DJ Said the first two would be decided by now. In fact if I read correctly, THE guy was supposed to be in place by now going into camp.

I still have a bad feeling DJ is going to screw up like he did in Chicago and play rotating QB's. That NEVER works.

they need to commit to one qb whoever they feel is the best right now before training camp starts so the starter gets the max number of reps to properly learn the new offense.
