Aiken aims to start out wide

The minute the Buffalo Bills dealt Eric Moulds to Houston this offseason, Sam Aiken’s career took a different path.

No longer was Aiken a young receiver who would be asked to play on special teams and fill in on offense when there was an injury.

Instead, he’ll now be asked to fill part of the leadership void that was created when Moulds became a Texan.

If Aiken and Nance have a great competition, Davis will be out of job.

          Yes it is.

Aiken is an excellent tackler on ST's but cannot be counted on as a backup WR, due to inconsistent hands.

Seems the Bills have an abundance of good ST players now. You just can't keep "ST's Only" players like Aiken, Wire and others who provide zilch at their given position.

I dunno.. Until someone comes along that is much better at the same salary level, I don't mind keeping guys that make our special teams so good right now.

Defense, ST and Willis will keep us in games this year. Hopefully.

Aiken is a bum, no offense but he has done nothing at WR to be even considered a starter let alone a top 5, what does he have 5 cathes in 4 years come on, Ko simpson, Rashard Baker, Martin Nance, Ashton Youboty all can fill his void on ST

Has he really been given a chance though? Its hard for him to play when we already had Eric and Lee. Josh Reed drops a lot of balls, and plays a lot. I think if he is given a chance to make more plays, he might get better. Also, he makes a lot of great tackles on Special teams, and who is to say that those other guys will be as good?

Inspite that, Aiken still can't beat him out. That that isn't saying much about Aiken. Now it seems that even guys like Wilson and Nance are the ones making noise at camp.

He had shots when Eric Moulds got hurt, as well as before Lee got here and even in spot duty, he was given a chance in the NFL it is what have u done for me lately and with him aside from ST he has done nothing in 4 years

Aiken has started 2 games and has had spot opportunities as well including quite a few snaps while Moulds was injured in 04. It is often said that you have to make the plays when you're given the opportunity and he just hasn't done that. Jonathan Smith has done just as much with his many fewer opportunities.

all true, im just saying that maybe working with a new coaching staff, he might get better. From what I see though, he is a pretty damn good blocker when he is in.

Also, wasnt Eric Moulds pretty bad the first few years he was here, and he was given a lot more opportunities. And looked what he ended up doing when he worked on his game more, just what Aiken is trying to do.
