In their 46-year history, the Buffalo Bills have had two great running backs that stood out from any of the other ball-carriers the team has ever possessed. Those two players are, of course, O.J. Simpson and Thurman Thomas. Without question, both are among the best the NFL has ever witnessed. more

Re: O.J. v. Thurman; who's No. 1 in Bills lore?
Ill go with the guy who didnt kill his wife.I remember that one fateful day when Coach took me aside. I knew what was coming. "You don't have to tell me," I said. "I'm off the team, aren't I?"
"Well," said Coach, "you never were really ON the team. You made that uniform you're wearing out of rags and towels, and your helmet is a toy space helmet.
You show up at practice and then either steal the ball and make us chase you to get it back, or you try to tackle people at inappropriate times."
It was all true what he was saying. And yet, I thought something is brewing inside the head of this Coach.
He sees something in me, some kind of raw talent that he can mold. But that's when I felt the handcuffs go on.

Thurman Thomas!!! He did what OJ couldn't do,take the team, with the help of other
great players to the Super Bowl 4 times .Ralph Wilson (no offense) used OJ as a workhorse and never surrounded him with great players to go the next level! What a shame! He was more versatile than O.J. too.Let's Go Bills, make it happen!!!

Thurman was a great back, but OJ had the elusiveness of Barry Sanders, the power of Walter Peyton, and speed that was unmatched. He was a legitimate threat to go the distance every time he touched the ball.
During that "Superstars" competition, OJ ran a 9.3 100 yard dash on asphalt wearing sneakers.

His elusiveness, unfortunately, extended beyond football.
Thurman was more complete, but the level of threat that OJ presented is unmatched.

In part, it depends of the offense being run. No offense to OJ, but Thurman was a much better fit for the no-huddle/K-gum due to his diverse abilities (running, receiving, blocking) than OJ was.Originally posted by mysticsotoLecter is right in everything he said.

Originally posted by ICE74129LMAO the elusiveness of Barry Sanders? he NEVER had that. Speed that was unmatched? Who are you...OJ or a family member?
Now, as a human being? Well, that's not fair, because I don't consider him one.
