View Full Version : How about this for our new backup goalie?

I don't know if this is feasible or not, but how about signing a veteran NHL goalie as our backup for Miller next year, namely Hasek? I'm sure he will be offered $$ by another team, but just think about the positive aspects.

!. We are now considered a contender, something which he will be looking for.
2. It would erase some of the bad blood of when he left.
3. Since he is one of the greatest Sabres, he could retire one.
4. And most obviously, he would be the best backup in the league and would be amazing insurance if Miller went down. At least if his groin holds up.

NEVER!!! after the stuff he said about us before he left Buffalo I still have a bitter taste in my mouth and even if we did sign him I wouldn't welcome him back with open arms

Hasek wouldn't come back to be a backup. Miller is our starter. NO CHANCE!

If Biron leaves, they could always bring back Noronen, now that VAN signed Luongo

You obviously don't go the spin zone or the main Bills board then.

It was a simple question.

Last year the Sabres basically spent 2 million on a backup.

I'm only saying maybe a million. I doubt he would take it, but if it was between that and forced retirement, you never know.

Unless he gives Buffalo a major hometown discount- it's a waste of money. I don't want to spend more than $2 million on a backup

Not sure what drives Hasek these days...He doesn't play for the big money. He only made 1.5Million in Ottawa last year. I would strongly doubt he would want to play a backup role especially for Buffalo but if he was fine with a back up position here I'd take him back.

Hasek would not come back to be a backup. If he goes to any team this year,(which I dont he will, because I think he will retire and go back home anyway) he would want to be a starter.

hasek???no friggin way.the last thing this team needs is somebody who can't make it to the playoffs because of a mysterious groin pull injury.how can you depend on somebody who uses the same excuse year in and year out?

750 thou to play half the games. We are currently paying our backup goalie almost three times that.

I'm frankly shocked he took such a low contract, even knowing that he hasn't played a full season in some time.
