Sabres Re-Sign Numminen
Brad Riter - Monday, July 3, 2006 - 6:55 PM
The Sabres have come to terms with veteran defenseman Teppo Numminen.

Numminen netted 2 goals and 38 assists in 75 games during the 2005-2006 regular season, his first with Buffalo and seventeenth in the NHL.

well, at least they kept one part of the team that got them to the Eastern Conference Finals.

Now they only need to fill 2 holes instead of 3..... McKee and Grier.

I like Teppo and all, but this is about as moving as when we got him last year.

I am glad they kept him though.

You guys are freakin' out for no reason. McKee was the 5th best defenseman on the team and Grier was not one of our top forwards. Please stop with the "sky is falling" crap...relax!

Sabres General Manager Darcy Regier said, "He did get a raise, probably more than he should but he did get a raise."

Yeah, the team only sucked and completely lacked any type of veteran leadership when he was out of the lineup. WTF Darcy?

Wait so we let our best shotblocker, and pker on our team leave and we re-sign a guy that almost dies everytime we hit the ice?

I'm very glad he is back, he will keep some experience in buffalo. But at the same time there is still a lot more to be done

Guastad Or Mair, Most Likely Miar can Do ALOT better than Grier ... Grier had 54 Short Handed Breakaways this season and got nothing.....

As For Replacing Mckee, ... umm... i dont think anyone on our roster could actially.....

then again in the new NHL blocked shots = crazy rebounds = deleyed penlty from hooking or tripping the shooter as he skates paste you to get the rebound.. or a goal...

i think too much shot block isnt as good as analyst claim it to be... some shots would be easy saves for goalies..... instead they get blocked and a rebound shot or a deflection...

I will sorely Miss Mckee... and St. Louis is Shelling out contracts like Chicago did last year..... and look what it did for Chicago.. naddduah........

Who Knows if the team continues to do well and remains in the black (ie making money) maybe we'll start signing some greater players ....

you guys seem to forget, when Golisano Bought the team he bought the Debt too, 1 year in the black doesnt make up for 3 or 4 years in the red... let the guy make some money before he starts throwing it around...:respect:

Patience...

Although I don't like losing McKee and Grier either, it's still early in the off-season.
