    Week One Lines

I was just surfing around for some news on the Bills and came across this site that has already posted lines for week one. I can't say that I disagree with the posted line for the Bills given the questions we have going into camp.

Miami Dolphins at Pittsburgh Steelers (OFF)
Atlanta Falcons at Carolina Panthers (-4.5)
Baltimore Ravens at Tampa Bay Buccaneers (-4)
Buffalo Bills at New England Patriots (-8)
Chicago Bears (-3) at Green Bay Packers
Cincinnati Bengals at Kansas City Chiefs (-4)
Dallas Cowboys at Jacksonville Jaguars (-3)
Denver Broncos (-3.5) at St. Louis Rams
Indianapolis Colts (-3) at New York Giants
New Orleans Saints at Cleveland Browns (-3)
New York Jets at Tennessee Titans (-2.5)
Philadelphia Eagles (-3.5) at Houston Texans
San Francisco 49ers at Arizona Cardinals (-7)
Seattle Seahawks (-3.5) at Detroit Lions
Minnesota Vikings at Washington Redskins (-6.5)
San Diego Chargers (-2.5) at Oakland Raiders

The biggest favorite for Week 1 right now? That’d be the New England Patriots, who are coming off a disappointing 2005 campaign that saw them fall short of another Super Bowl title. The Pats will be taking on the division-rival Bills in their opener, and Buffalo has yet to even settle on a starting quarterback for the season (J.P. Losman is the frontrunner). Barring a camp injury to Tom Brady, don’t expect this line to move much.

    I wasn't sure about posting a source link, since it's a betting site, but it's at betus.com.

I still think NE has lost too much and we give them a run for their money...thoughts?

Honestly I think we are going to get destroyed Week 1 and this message board is going to go insane until we compete heavily with the Dolphins Week 2. I think that line is accurate, and I hope we at least are competitive with the Patsies, but I don't see it happening. After that game we will look like a different team the rest of the year and finish with a positive 8-8.

NE has lost players to FA and injury before, and it barely affected them. There is no doubt that this won't be the Pats team of 04 that won 14 games, but they still have Bill Belicheck, who absolutely owns our team.

We have a bunch of young guys and new systems on both sides of the ball that the players will be implementing in a game situation for the first time. Then we have to go on the road and compete against a Belicheck team.

We're going to get killed, and I won't be going insane afterwards because I fully expect it to happen.

true, but what did I say that was incorrect? NE is an unbelievable team at home, and it's not unreasonable to expect a team in Buffalo's situation to have a tough time opening the season against them.

An optimist can never be pleasantly surprised, which is what I'll be if the Bills somehow pull it off.

Shouldn't there be at least a 2 in front of that 8?

You should bet the trailer on NE then if you think that.

                  Go down bombing.

The back 7 of the Pats D can be had, even with the Divine one ( Tedy ) . If you can get by that good DL, you can do something. How about Losman hitting Evans deep ? Just try and go down swinging. Build towards something.

That's a facade. He's obviously disappointed. Pessimism is a defense mechanism that doesn't relly work because, to be specific about this situation, he is a bills fan and wants to see wins. Low expectations are habitual and lead to depression.

I will be pleasantly surprised if we go above 8-8 because that is what I am expecting this year so yes we can be pleasantly surprised. Even if we suck this year I really feel like we at least have a direction for once, and I like that direction we are heading in. I just plain can not wait for Bills Football every sunday afternoon, and I think that is something everyone here can finally agree on!

I dont like the matchup in Miami week 2 at all. YOU ever been in South Florida the 2nd week of SEPTEMBER. Thats 1 reason why I might not make that trip. The weather will be terrible.....ASK the Bills last year the 2nd week in Tampa. They could not handle that type of heat at all.......

But what if we did suprise the NFL and beat the Patsies in Week 1?

Everyone would be going insane on the message boards.

Point is, it doesn't matter the outcome, certain posters are going to go balistic no matter what happens. I sometimes wonder if people already have their posts ready to go if the Bills win or lose.

I think we are going to beat NE. They have a weak secondary and I think Fairchild is going to exploit them. NE had some decent losses last year and I don't see a team with a lot of additions in the offseason. I think this is going to be one of our surprise wins. I still think we are going 7-9 but we beat them week 1!!
