The Buffalo News reports that the Bills are expected to cut tight end Jay Riemersma, who is scheduled to make $3.5 million this year, in a cost-cutting move. By doing so, the Bills will have over $11 million in cap space to pursue free agents, according to News calculations. (2/18) ... Peerless Price, who had a breakout season with the Bills, is waiting to see if Buffalo assigns a transition or franchise tag to him prior to Feb. 20, according to the Buffalo News . Price, who had 94 receptions for 1,232 yards, is looking forward to cashing in on last season. The Bills like Price, but not for a high price. The team has already invested $40 million in fellow wide receiver Eric Moulds.

Nothing new here. Tough job these guys have.

The Indianapolis Star reports that the Colts have not yet made a decision on how they're going to approach linebacker Mike Peterson's worth in the free-agent market. The Colts realize that he has much value in the free-agent market, but the team has not yet made a determination on whether they will apply a franchise or transition tag to him, re-sign him or let the cards fall where they may by allowing Petersen to test the free-agent market. (2/18)

I don't even think the Colts can afford to tag him. I'd love to see this guy in a Bills uniform.

He will definately be cheaper than Spikes and has the ability and upside to be a pro-bowler. I like him.

The Colts probably could tag him, but that would be paying top 10 money to a guy who is top 30 or so.

Peterson can play some football. I'd rate him in the Top 20 at the lowest.

Do the math- top 15-20 LB getting top 5 money (Franchise tag) or top 10 (transition tag)

You are overpaying, and you use up the tag.

I wasn't saying I think they should tag them. That was just from the article. They could never afford to tag them if they wanted to.

I wish I could find out the real amount the Bills will be under the cap. I've read $11M on Sportsline, $10M somewhere else, and now the Buffalo News is saying that after releasing JR (a $2.2M savings) the Bills will have $11M?!

This could be good news! Len Pasquarelli's says: Around the league

" One prime young player who almost certainly won't be designated as a "franchise" free agent, and who will attract plenty of attention, is weak-side linebacker Mike Peterson of the Colts. The club has nearly 40 percent of its cap tied up in three players -- quarterback Peyton Manning, wide receiver Marvin Harrison and tailback Edgerrin James -- and it seems prohibitive to put a marker on Peterson, an athletic playmaker who, at age 26, is only going to get better."

Let hope this is true and we have a shot at him!
