Although the Sabres just finished perhaps the finest season in their history, they've decided they no longer need the services of Director of Player Development Don Luce.
Ch2 Sports has learned Luce has been told his contract will not be renewed as he enters his 20th season with the club.
Luce, who spent ten seasons as a player with the Sabres, is a member of the Sabres Hall of Fame. He was a key member of the '74-'75 team that reached the Stanley Cup finals and set two team records that stand to this day; he scored eight short-handed goals and had an unheard of +61 rating.
