View Full Version : Game 1 New England - How will it go?

For some strange reason no team is usually great the first week unless the other team is completely unprepared. I think that early in the season NE has a tendency to slip and get their game on late in the season. Knowing that, it gives our Bills the opportunity to capitalize on mistakes or misteps they make, especially at their own house when the pressure is on them to win. I think we pull ahead early and win 34-24 and really set them for a loop. They will look at the calendar and think 2 months and we're at Rich, ouch.

Go Bills.

I say Bills 34 to 24!

I bet our defense goes monster on them.

With plenty of Willis and a few surprise bombs to our speedy WRs, I'm going 13-10 Bills, where the Gramatica misses a FG at the end of the game.

Boy are they going to miss Vinatieri.

I think it will go like this, the realists will say, "I told you so, the Bills suck".

Tom Brady may throw for more yards on his first drive than our Quarterback(s) throw for the entire game.

I think it will be a close contest, a real slug fest, but in the end New England pulls out the win as their experience (and Tom Brady) will make the difference.

I have no problem with that actually. I hate losing but I feel a litle better when it isn't for lack of effort, stupidity and lack of preparation on the part of the coaches and players, which was often the case throughout the Williams/Donahoe-Mularkey/Donahoe regimes.

Let us hope that the Jauron/Levy regime proves to be different. Right now I am very hopeful.

Don't get me wrong fellas, I love the optimism but 31-24. WTF. 13-10 Bills I could go for, but 13-10 New England is more likely.

I think im more of a realist with a side order of homer. It's no secret that the Bills had QB, stopping the run, and pass rush issues last year. Any realist or homer could of seen that.

But this is a new year, with a easier schedule so anything can happen, maybe the Bills will be good. Maybe they can come out of the gates fast and start 3-0 in the division.

TD is a JP realist. He's been a bum so far. Realist compare JP to Akili Smith, Rob Johnson, Ware, Shuler, etc...

JP Homers compare him to Palmer, Manning, Farve, Elway, Marino, Kelly, Eli etc...

Just remember the Bills were bad last year but almost beat NE in NE on national TV with Bruschi returning. In fact we had that game won until late in the 4th when the refs screwed us .

You guys do have a point, it's tough to peg teams and what they will do at the very beginning of a season. That one year, you guys destroyed the Pats the 1st game (wasn't that a SI cover?) and then didn't the Pats do the same the 2nd game to the Bills, even the exact same score??? It will be an interesting to see how easy the schedule turns out to be for both our teams, since some teams may be tougher than they were the year before.

THose score are very unreasonable. How can one team get that many points, when the angelic wings of Bruschi will carry him to every single ball thrown by the Bills, netting 50+ INT in the one game. Oh, and also the bright lights from the heavenly Patriot will blind the Bills offense.

That's funny, since every QB you mentioned got to start more than 8 NFL games. I guess JP was so horrible in his 8 starts that he gets automatic "bust" status? :D

Tom Brady may throw for more yards on his first drive than our Quarterback(s) throw for the entire game.

Maroney and Dillon may have their best day of the season.

Put me down for 73-6 Bills. I say that the Pats get a late TD against a prevent D but fail on the two point conversion.

I didn't know Losman's career was over. He's not gonna play more then 8 games?

He will be in 'bust" status until he produces.

Can I at least get to see a couple of preseason games before making a prediction?

It would be nice to at least see the Bills in their new offense and defensive system before trying to come up with a score for their season opening game!

BTW: I heard on ESPN yesterday that D.Givens was considering holding out for a contract extension (Mike and Mike, Cold Pizza, NFL Live? It was on one of those programs). If he were to have an extended holdout, it could cause problems for the Pats' passing game early in the season, even with Brady triggering their offense. That should be something to keep an eye on.

I'm sure you meant Deon Branch, but ya your 100% right he can have a major effect on that offense, with Givens gone to Tenn

3 ribs & 1 arm. :snicker:

Seriously though, I don't see why people still think the Pats will be the same.
I'll guess that the Bills will win that game, simply because the refs have someone new to cheer for. :chuckle:

In a way, New England being our first game could be a blessing in disguise.

It will be a real eye opener for some of our younger players - especially those who see time in the secondary.

I remember that game fondly.

I watched it from end to end - that was shortly after I became a Bills fan - I didn't even know it was the playoffs... - I didn't know all that much about football at the time.

I kindly remind all the raiders fans about that game being the last time both teams met in the playoffs - meaning the last time we both fielded superbowl contenders, ours was clearly better.

If you guys were actually betting your own hard earned cash,i wonder how many of you would still pick buffalo?? I can see maybe if the bills were getting a 15 point spread. This beating will be like the one up in buffalo last year.Pats at home dont feel pressure, they feel ELECTRIC. New comers like marhoney and jackson, and new blood like reche caldwell who was in the doghhouse/and injured for most of his time at san diego, will hopefully be healthy, and if he stays healthy,he will definately prosper here in n.e., will most likely be tearing open(along with branch, jackson, and watson/graham,) the pretty weak secondary of the bills.

If jp is the qb,i can see a TON of 3 and outs that game
and the bills defense will be dragging there tongue by the start of the second half--

If holcomb starts the game,it will be a much different story. Not that i think the bills will win(they will probably only lose by 10-13 points instead of 24),but it will be a closer game.

If holcomb starts the season and plays 16 healthy games, i can see buf easily taking 2nd place in the division.

After reading many of your posts I think it's anyone's game and we all need to see how the players gel. We have 2 hard games to start the season, we need to show our colors. If we win both look out.
