WNSA finally got the scoop and just reported it. There will be more on this later. It is confirmed from the Bills. Peerless Price is the Franchise Player for the Buffalo Bills!!!

They just announced it on Empire as well

I'm not thrilled with this move if they did it just to keep Price. I think Josh Reed could have stepped in with hardly any drop in performance.

Gee, glad I knew this 4 hours ago... :)

WGR reported it as well...TD made a small statement saying they are working on a long term deal.

So much for trading for defensive help.

I think TD figures the Bills has enough cap money to try to make a deal with Price. If they can not reach an agreement within the next week TD figures there was enough interest from multiple teams that he could trade him and get something for him. Of course this is a scenerio the Clumpster has been talking about for the last few weeks.:hail: Clump

We can't trade him unless we work a deal with him. I don't think any team out there will surrender two first round picks for Peerless to bypass the Franchise tag.

AWM, I believe the only way a team will give up two first picks for Price is if someone signs Price to a long term deal. We can sign to a long term deal with a low signing bonus and then trade him to another team...

If they got rid of him, I was going to ask for my member # to be changed...even if I had to use all of my zone bucks to do it! :D

For a team to steal Price away from us, they have to surrender 2 first round picks. Once we negotiate a deal with Price, the franchise tag is dropped. Then if we want to trade, the value of the new contract is assumed by a team that we trade with and we work out whatever trade package we can get.

AWM, you are correct. We are on the same page. That is what Clump has been guessing may happen to Price for the last few weeks. Something similar happened to Kevin Carter a couple of years ago.

Holy crap, we may be tagging and swapping Price for draft picks, maybe to Hotlanta, maybe to Washington.

If TD gets us something out of this, i will be happy.

Not entirely true. If Bills sign him to a long-term deal and then trade him, Bills would be hit by ALL the signing bonus acceleration in the 2003 League Year. I'll highlight more about this tomorrow

Why would they do that?

in order to get something for him...just because he is tagged doesn't mean they want him...all they may want is compensation for him if he leaves/gets traded.
