All: The new Billszone site with the updated software is scheduled to be turned on Tuesday, May 21, 2024. The company that built it, Dynascale, estimates a FOUR HOUR shut down, from 8pm Pacific, (5pm Eastern) while they get it up and running. Nobody will be able to post in any forum until they are done. Afterwards, you may need to do a web search for the site, as old links will not work, because the site is getting a new IP address. Please be patient. If there are bugs, we will tackle them one at a time. Remember the goal is to be up and running with no glitches by camp. Doing this now assures us of that, because it gives us all summer to get our ducks in a row. Thank you!
Please use this thread to report any issues you come across

satan got 4.5 and 5.5 in his last two years.. not 7 :)
still its blown out of proportion, we'll have plenty of cap room, dunno why people are pinning 5 million on overshooting the cap..
just because he gets 5 Million this one year doesnt mean future contracts wont be less, (there is no rule saying your salary cant go down or you cant sign for less on a new contract), dont be suprised come january they sign him to long term 4.5+ Million a year..
either way, now the front office is panicing and signing players to deals they never offered, example, Kotalik... he made less than 1 mill last season, they just threw a 3 year contract starting at 2 million at him to get him to sign before arbitration, which they woulda gave him prolly 3 or 4 million,
Because, according to the Sabres, they only made a half million dollards last year and that was with the playoff run receipts. Galisano says he is going to run this team to make a profit. If he is going to do that, he'll have to sign Briere and cut other players to cover his salary or let Briere walk and sign cheap rookies to take his place.
If they trade Briere and they get his value back, won't they have to play that player about the same salary? or maybe they'll get 2 or 3 back to equal is salary, but do they really 2 or 3 people?

his prophits lasxt year were more than 500K, thats bull...
unless he's using prophits from this year to cover past due stuff .. which would be smart...
I kept hearing after the season how the Sabres made 4.5 to 5 million with the playoff run.
I felt that the Sabres would be hard pressed to keep many of these players this year and still be at the self imposed $34 million cap. However, I think the arbitrator in Briere's case was a total idiot. This was by far his best year and he only played 48 games. How can they give him an award of $5 million after one partial good season. He is a very good player but not in the elite class. I would try to keep him, but I don't think there is any way they will be able to keep Max, Dumont and maybe even Connolly with those kinds of salaries.

Cher it was based on market value. Briere would easily get 5 mil a year on the open market if not more.
