Again, Why Can't the Bills win the East?

After mulling his options for several days, Patriots No. 1 wide receiver Deion Branch decided last night he will not report to camp despite facing a $14,000-per-day fine. -- Boston Globe

Assuming this goes the way of TO, their stating WRs would be Reche Cadwell, Troy Brown and Rookie Chad "hot route" Jackson.

When Dillion goes down, their every-down back is a rookie Maroney. I like him alot, but name the last Rookie running back to make a Big impact on a play-off team.

looking at their defensive roster, it is not that impressive. Harrison is 33, Bruschi is 33 and Varbel is 30.

I know Tom Brady can make up for a lot, but I just don't see how this team has improved from last year.

And Gramatica-Gostkowski aint no Vinatieri, either.
Should have known, way back in 1960 when we drafted Richie Lucas Number 1, that this would be a long, hard ride. But who could have known it would be THIS bad?

Let's say BB ends up sleeping with someones wife ...oh wait..... and it bothers him so much he cant coach properly, the bills can't win it if they don't take care if themselves in house. The bills won't win anything even if the fins hire a qb that's a Lemon ...oh wait..

The bills can only win if they fix the hundreds of if's within the team.

There's no mention of Miami in here, who's becoming the team to beat..

For NE, you also forgot to mention losing McGinest.. NE will be good, but I dont think they are a 12-13 win team anymore.

NE isnt what they used to be, but they still got some crafty vets and the best QB in football, period..

I would say Cadillac Williams made a pretty nice impact for the Bucs last year did he not? I think they were in the playoffs if my memory serves me.

I have heard that Patsies are very impressed with Maroney so far in camps.

The Pats definitely lost a step, but the Dolphins and especially the Bills aren't there yet. I don't think the Pats are a lock to win the division, but they're certainly still the team to beat.

The road to victory still goes through New England.

                    Who said we cant?

I, personally, have never said we wont. However, I think it is HIGHLY unlikely. I think we most likely end up 5 and 11 again or 6 and 10.

But, If we had started Losman all year last year rather than caving because of the win now attitude in a non-playoff year, I honestly believe Losman would have the experience and would have developed the pocket presence to be a decent starter this year. Instead we set ourselves back another year by making Losman ride the pine. Now, we will STILL have to struggle through on the field learning to get through the crap and get to the good.

But, had we have done things the right way we may have been poised to make a charge.

The Jets are messed up due to Penningtons injury, the loss of Edwards, change in schemes. They sucked last year and can be no better than us this year.

The Fins probably have the best chance to step up but still have a questionable WR corp, an aging D, a new QB who has been brilliant and putrid, a unproven RB, and an average o-line. They keep their schemes in tact and have added players so they look to be in better shape than us but certainly NOT a all-AFC team by any means.

The Pats are flat out headed south. They still dont have a true answer to losing Weiss and Crennell. They have a questionable WR corp, an aging RB and an unproven rookie backup. Their D proved they dont lead the league. But, they do still have a poised QB, and Belicheck. They probably are the favorites again for the AFC title.

Overall, I think we have as much chance of taking the AFC East as the Jets, only a little less of a chance than the Fins, and that the Pats are the favorites but are certainly reachable being a most likely in and out playoff team.

It could have been a great year to charge for the East, but TD and Mularkey screwed that up. Lets hope for the best.

Re: Again, Why Can't the Bills win the East?

I think the whole East is weak.

Miami stills has a suspect secondary and OL.

Jets are gonna blow. A 50 year old RB doesn't help.

Pats keep losing players. BB and Brady can't do it alone.

Bills have a very weak DL and a OL that won't probably gel until the second half of the season.

I could see someone winning the East with an 8-8 record.

Add in a great McGahee year and a swarming fast D.

I believe that MM was so outcoached in so many games that we looked completely void of any talent. I think we are better than 5-11 and alot of the pundits didn't watch the games like we did. If this team had won the 3 close games (including the Miami embarrassment) than at 8-8 people would be saying we were on the rise.

This coaching staff is 10X better than what we had last year. We haven't had a decent offensive coordinater for at least 7 years. We are going to be better, guaranteed.
