I only ask because the recent arbitration rulings. But who would you rather have? Danny's more of goal scorer but his durability is questionable. Gomez is a hell of a playmeaker and very durable. Their career stats are listed below:

I think I would have to take Briere simply because he scored some big goals in the playoffs last year.. although I think these guys are pretty close.

It is a tossup in my mind talent wise. For the sake of team continuity and chemistry I say keep Briere.

I think it is a no brainer Daneil Breire, Gomez goes away for long stretchs Danny is a little more consistent

I agree and would add that Briere has the ability to take over a game(ie game1 of the ECF), Gomez is streaky but I've never seen him dominate play.

Being in NJ I don't know Briere well but Gomez is a terrific player who is a leader and a high energy/sparkplug type player.

Plus he has the Cups

That being said $5 million is to much for him.

i agree he is solid and i have seen him play enough to say he can be inconsistent at times, but is solid in playoffs, as wasy danny boy, but 5million for him is a little high

Briere, he's the captain for a reason, he's a major part in holding the team together IMO.

Say what you want about Briere but Gomez at 5 is a steal...He was asking for 7 if I remember correctly.

He's also way more proven than Briere.

I agree but he also has had a better supporting cast around him, let's face until this past season Briere played on some pretty mediocre teams and still put up decent numbers.

Ah, someone was reading TSN and saw their poll, eh? ;)

Their poll also included Alex Tanguay & Marc Savard....

For my $5 million, I can't go wrong with either Briere, Tanguay, or Gomez. As for Savard...no thanks.

Hrmm,

I'd Rather Have Briere, Because he's been here, and he likes it here,

If you risk signing Gomez im sure Ruff will run into the "Man This isnt how we did Sh-T in New Jersey"

So I guess we shouldn't sign any Free Agents at all! Or trade for anyone for that matter.

I'm sure Lydman got into the "Man this isn't how we did **** in Calgary", Drury got into the "Man this isnt how we did **** in Colorado", Teppo and Briere said "This isn't how we ran **** in Phoenix!"

No offense but that's a dumb reason not to sign somebody.

New Jersey is Die hard Trap Team,

Briere and All them Have been here .. and know the strategy,

Im not saying thats a reason NOT so sign anyone....

its My Reason to Not Drop Danny someone who knows the Organization and Bring in someone that doesnt.

thats Like Bringing IN Apple/Macintosh to Design Windows 2010, and Apple Bringing In MS to Write Mac OSXI, lmao...

why Rock the Boat over a small numbers margin,....

You're also talking about someone who's posted a 70 and 84 point season in a "die hard trap team."

He was also without Elias a lot the past year. He's also younger than Briere.

They're both very good players but honestly outside of Buffalo I'm sure many would agree that Gomez > Briere. And I'm a HUGE Briere fan. He's just really overrated by a lot of Sabre fans sometimes.
