HEMPSTEAD, N.Y. -- Jets running back Curtis Martin (http://sports.espn.go.com/nfl/players/profile?statsId=3164) won't practice when training camp opens Friday because of a lingering knee injury.

Martin was placed on the physically unable to perform list Thursday, along with receiver Justin McCareins (http://sports.espn.go.com/nfl/players/profile?statsId=5572) and center Trey Teague (http://sports.espn.go.com/nfl/players/profile?statsId=4429). The 33-year-old Martin had arthroscopic surgery last December to clean out his right knee and then was limited during minicamp last month.
Though the surgery wasn't considered invasive, it has taken Martin some time to recover. Martin and coach Eric Mangini were unavailable for comment Thursday, when players reported for camp.
Martin, who ranks fourth all-time on the NFL rushing list with 14,101 yards, reworked his contract so he could return for a 12th season. Last year, Martin gained only 735 yards in 12 games -- the first time in his career he failed to reach the 1,000-yard mark.
With Martin out, the majority of the reps will go to Derrick Blaylock (http://sports.espn.go.com/nfl/players/profile?statsId=5598), Cedric Houston (http://sports.espn.go.com/nfl/players/profile?statsId=7358) and rookie Leon Washington (http://sports.espn.go.com/nfl/players/profile?statsId=7866).
McCareins hurt his foot during minicamp, and Teague broke his left ankle during offseason workouts. Teague is still in a walking boot. The Jets also placed defensive back Rayshun Reed (http://sports.espn.go.com/nfl/players/profile?statsId=7111) on the PUP list. The moves are a formality, and the players can be moved back onto the active roster at any time.

I thought I heard Teague was done for the year. Is that true?
