"Every year there are surprise teams and generally nobody's talking about them this time of year. I believe we're in an era where the team that plays the most consistent toward the tail end of the season, their chances are just as good as anybody else's."
Vincent takes heart in the reality that big turnarounds are hard to predict. Last year Chicago went from 5-11 to 11-5, and the New York Giants went from 6-10 to 11-5. The year before San Diego went from 4-12 to 12-4. "A year ago everybody was talking about a New England and Philadelphia matchup again," Vincent said. "It didn't happen. So it's no surprise. No one talks about you when you were 5-11 the year before. Who wants to talk about you?

its funny that despite the pattern for the last decade that every single year teams come out of nowhere to make the playoffs that we still think like we did in the old nfl when that rarely happened

Fans like us spend a lot of money to be disappointed so people like Vincent can get paid a lot of money to be optimistic.

Again, different teams, different years, different situations that have nothing to do with the Buffalo Bills.

And what's he supposed to say. "Yeah, this team's a cluster****. Don't even buy tickets or my jersey because we are really going to embarrass ourselves this year".

Vincent could honestly think this team is screwed but there is no way he would ever say that to the media.
