From my view, there is no doubt that Golisano will make a legitimate offer for the Sabres that will be true to his word- no public money involved, a fair deal all around. He has too much time and credibility invested into it.
The problem: the bid will likely be at a fair value, with the price not inflated by public tax dollars to prop up the franchise and attempt to maintain the value of franchises throughout the NHL.
The NHL may not like that- and if Golisano doesn't get the team, my guess is THAT will be the reason. It won't be Golisano's fault- he shouldn't be responsible for faking the value of the team by using public $$ or overpaying out of his pocket.
