Preston adapting to right guard role

This is a pretty good article - I like the kid's versatility and attitude - I wonder how close the competition is between him and Villarial - I'd like to see him win that battle - it would give us a lot more consistency at that spot with Villarial's inevitable injuries. Some excerpts:

"There was another little surprise on the field. Rather than use Preston at center, his position at the University of Illinois, the Bills moved him to guard.
This year, he's well prepared for his second NFL season....

"It was important that I proved I could be versatile and play other spots," Preston said....

"He played center most of his career, but we're giving him a lot of reps at right guard," offensive line coach Jim McNally said. "Chris Villarrial (the starter at right guard) has played 10, 11, 12 years, whatever it is (it's 11), so we want to be able to give him a little rest now and then."

Filling in for Villarrial was Preston's role last season. Three times he replaced an injured Villarrial during a game. On Oct. 9 he made his only NFL start when Villarrial was ill.

The 6-foot-5, 311-pound Preston said he has no preference when it comes to a position. He'll play wherever they put him.

"I just want to be where I have the best chance to get on the field," he said. "If they want to use me at tight end in some goal-line situation, that's fine with me.""

Full article, hope I didn't excerpt too much...

I see Preston as Villarrial's replacement by next season. I think he's going to be a good one.
Should have known, way back in 1960 when we drafted Richie Lucas Number 1, that this would be a long, hard ride. But who could have known it would be THIS bad?

Paul Hamilton on WGR said that Preston looks HORRIBLE in camp so far and has regressed a lot from last year......

        He's obviously a Villarrial groupie.

lol - that's when we know things have gone to far - when we have opposing camps as to who our starting RG will be...
