We are now on Day 10 of Buffalo Bills Training Camp. The players again came out wearing full pads and had some full contact drills. The Buffalo Bills practiced on the grass fields today. It was a nice day outside, a bit hot. But not as bad as it was last week. As usual, the team worked on the individual drills, 7-on-7, 11-on-11, special teams and a 2-minute drill.

After some individual and special teams drills, the Buffalo Bills went to work on some 7-on-7. Kelly Holcomb did what he is expected to do, throw a bunch of short passes and hope his receivers can run fast. He had 8 passes thrown in this drill and none of them were over 10-yards. On the other hand, JP Losman threw 6 passes in the drill and 2 of them were over 10-yards. However, Losman did struggle a bit on his accuracy........

It's much more exciting when the other team sacks the QB.

Or when they take an interception or fumble back for a TD.

Holcomb has been intercepted more than Losman in training camp so far. He has also taken close to the same amount of sack and has been lucky on the amount of balls that the defense has dropped.

He's right. Boring and ineffective. I am sure DJ will be all happy with the 2-3 yard dump offs until his team cant put up 17 points per game and his defense is giving up 20 or so.

From what I've read from Chris Brown, Mikey, Losman had 3 passes dropped and on that INT by Bethea, it was the same exact play as the one before where he took a sack, meaning Bethea knew what the play was. Overall sounds good!

You would be correct. The kid is coming along nicely. If they give him the chance he will be a good one.

I don't think I would consider all 3 of them drops. Some of them would have been spectacular catches if they were caught. They were a little high.

Mikey,

Do you chalk up the lack of running space in the second set of 11 on 11 drills to the D knowing the focus was on the run or on poor line play?

Good report

Van Pelt is probably better than both JP and KH.

Good report
I think it was poor line play. There wasn't any holes at all. And the linemen looked a bit tired.

Mikey mentioned the unusual lineup for onside kicks. He probably isn't aware of the NFL rule change regarding onside kicks. You must keep a minimum of 4 players on each side of the ball. You used to be able to put all 10 to one side.

This alternating QBs every few plays is just the most asinine, ******ed way to practice I have ever heard of. It does neither of them any good.
The conspiracy nut in me suspects it's a way to undermine JP. He seems to do better when he's in a rhythm, and it's easier to mess up the head of someone who's less experienced.
Some posters here have picked up that Dick is biased in favor of Holcomb, and I have to agree. Dick has no business being a head coach. Def. coordinator, fine, but keep him away from the passing game.

A lot of you are fools if you think Losman is going to win this job.

Holcomb already has the job.

There is no competition

Two things I liked reading (no comment on the QBs): first that the Bills are running screens and second that Whitner is already climbing the depth charts. YEEHAW!!!

I'm not too worried yet about the offense, even with the ol jumping off-sides. It usually takes longer for the O to get in gear, and with the QBs changing off frequently, they probably can't get used to the signal caller's cadence. Moreover, it sounds like there's probably lots of changes which makes it hard for the offense to get in its proverbial "rhythm". If they're still doing the same thing later in preseason, then it becomes worrisome.
