DAVIE, Fla. -- Quarterback Daunte Culpepper (http://sports.espn.go.com/nfl/players/profile?statsId=4659) will play in the Miami Dolphins (http://sports.espn.go.com/nfl/clubhouse?team=mia)' preseason opener Saturday, less than 10 months after a serious knee injury ended his 2005 season, coach Nick Saban said Thursday.

When the Dolphins acquired Culpepper in March from the Minnesota Vikings (http://sports.espn.go.com/nfl/clubhouse?team=min), there were concerns he might not healthy for the start of the regular season. But he has participated in every training camp practice and received medical clearance to play Saturday against Jacksonville, Saban said.
"He has done everything in practice that he needs to do," Saban said. "And he wants to play."

Mikey: Getting sacked and fumbling is par for the course for DC. Getting sacked and NOT shredding his knee is what Dols fans should be praying for. We'll see if it's a dumb move or not.

Personaly I kinda figured they would hold him out of at least the first pre-season game and maybe the first 2. Frankly I think playing him in the first pre-season game says more about the status of what they REALLY think of the knee than any media statment made by the organization/doctors. You never quite know how much stock to put in those, especialy as evasive as Saban is.

Well each has a little different wording and in all honesty I did this whole thread for our resident fin fans. I personally hope Culpepper keeps up his usual stats and int's and fumbles become par for the course, It will keep you guys below us and give us a better chance to win.

Ok, thanks. But compare stats of Daunte and all the QB's we have had recently. We will be just fine:up:

Well you better HOPE he reverts to his pre-2005 form. Last year was ugly in more ways than one, and DC has a lot to prove that last year was the aberration and not the norm without Moss and Linehan.

Yea his usual 2004 stats will be fine with me, his career completion stats are also fine with me, if he keeps those up, I'm fine with him.

Frankly, i'm looking forward to seeing how well he can play a full season without randy moss. We'll see if the hype is true or not.
