Jauron went on to say that the decision (to start Holcomb) was based on age and seniority.
Since when is a career backup given the starting nod based on age and seniority?

Its a QB competition. It wont be solved until atleast the 2nd preseason game. They both will get the chance to start. Its best for Losman fans that he doesnt play against Carolina on the road if you want him to win the job. Home against a weaker defense should win him the job.
Nall Ball!! 3rd preseason game starter.

And the warts start to shine through! Jauron has made the first wrong decision and I think it's a pretty big one. We need to know what Losman can do against first team defenses, not the 2nd & 3rd teamers. We know what we have in Holcomb...a noodle arm that will do just enough to lose. Is anybody starting to hate Holcomb?

Originally posted by The_PhilsterPersonally, I won't think of it as a big one until JP doesn't get the start against Cincy next week. I'd much rather have JP start each preseason game but if this QB competition is just a charade to appease some vets, I'll live with one start by the mediocre one...so long as it's only the one. JP gets the start next week and locks up the job.In my day we did not have self-esteem... we had self-respect, and no more of it then we earned.

How hard is this to comprehend?
It's been well publicized that both JP, Holcomb, and even Nall would be given opportunities to win the starting job for the season. Nall got hurt so he's out of the running for a while.
This is all part of the process. Each guy will get equal time the first two games. If anything- a strong argument can be made that JP has the advantage of playing against weaker competition at home.
