Another crappy night for the Quarterbacks at Training Camp last night....

Fans attending practice Thursday night might not be all that encouraged about the prospects of the offense this weekend after there were some poor decisions by the quarterbacks.

On the first play of 7-on-7 Losman threw an interception right into the hands of linebacker Mario Haggan. He settled down after that and hit his next five passes. Losman also threw a pretty fade to Lee Evans in the back corner of the end zone during red zone work. However, he overthrew Sam Aiken later during 11-on-11 and that was intercepted on a nice play by rookie Ko Simpson. Losman finished the night 10-16.

Kelly Holcomb came dangerously close to throwing an interception on just his second pass of the night, but Donte Whitner couldn't hold onto the ball. On the very next play however, Holcomb was picked off by Jabari Greer on a pass intended for Andre Davis. He did have a nice pass down the sideline to Chris Denney that likely would have gone for a touchdown. Holcomb also had a pretty pass to Roscoe Parrish outside. He finished 11-14.

Jauron admitted that there were some poor plays on the night.

"There were some bad decisions at times, obviously," said Jauron. "But in a practice you never know what's going to happen because it's not live. Unfortunately they'll throw the ball in situations when they shouldn't. They'll take more chances in practice and to a degree that's okay. You want them to push the envelope, but some of the decisions they made tonight were not good at all."
    -----------------------------
    Special teams hurry up
One of the bright spots of Thursday night's practice was the flawless execution by the field goal units on special teams. Special teams coordinator Bobby April set up a drill where the offense with 24 seconds left on the game clock executes a short pass play. With no timeouts left to use, the field goal unit has to hurry onto the field and kick a field goal before the clock expires.

On each of the two reps the specialists were running onto the field with about 20 or 19 seconds remaining. Both snaps were on the mark and both field goal attempts were good by Rian Lindell and Nick Setta.

    Offensive standouts
Roscoe Parrish was all over the field as he was giving the cornerbacks fits most of the night. He led the receiving corps with five catches most of which went for first down yardage.

Lee Evans had a nice over the shoulder touchdown reception in the back corner of the end zone. He had three receptions on the evening. Sam Aiken also pulled in three passes.

Brad Cieslak had a tough catch that he probably would have powered over the goal line for a touchdown during red zone work.

    Defensive standouts
Donte Whitner had a pass breakup that could have gone for an interception. The Bills top pick was high off the ground to snare the pass out of the air, but just couldn't pull it in.

Mario Haggan, Jabari Greer and Ko Simpson all had interceptions on the night. Greer now leads training camp with four picks.

Defensive end Eric Powell and linebacker Keith Ellison teamed up to crash down from the back side on a running play to register a tackle for loss.

The back seven had two instances where they forced dead ball situations. Their coverage was so good that both Holcomb and Losman each had to eat the ball once.

It's not my update. I just watched practice with dannyek71. I didn't take notes. I've just been watching and taking photos for the last couple practices. I missed Wednesday's too. I will be there today at 10:30am and will give my report this afternoon though.

                    Mikey.

To say the QB play was crappy was the understatement of the year.

That was one of the WORST practices for QB's i have EVER SEEN.

JP was absolutely AWFUL and Holcomb was barely ANY better.

                    Brutal.

Did you see Holcomb throw that one pass to Donte Whitner that was almost intercepted? I heard people groan. and then when his next play was an interception....I could have sworn I heard people cheer.

It was a terrible performance by both of them. That was the worst I have JP Losman look. And Holcomb was just as bad.
