I liked the way he handled the game tonight.

Started the vet at QB and played him a full quarter. Kept the o-line intact for JP to play behind in the second quarter. Got Whitner, and other youngsters like Williams some snaps early. Kept JP in until the last possible moment. Put a lot of players on the field to get them game action.

Fairchild and Fewell deserve props too. Despite the vanilla game plans, the offense showed a nice balance between the run and the pass and the defense was around the ball most of the night.

Good job by the new staff in their first live action, IMO.

If you focus on what happened while the first teams were in there then they were miserable.

We got our asses kicked while Carolina had their starters in. It wasn't pretty at all. Especially Holcomb.

I won't get to bent out of shape over it since it's only the preseason and the first one as it is, but if the first units doesn't improve any by the time Septemeber 10th rolls around it's gonna be a long day and maybe season.

Personally I think Jauron sucks. His personality sucks and he acts like a fairy. I wouldn't care about that but his past record as HC doesn't improve the status any.

Until the starters got off the field the offense looked terrible. There wasn't any holes for McGahee and wasn't much creativity in the passing game. Hopefully then from vanilla playcalling. We can only hope.

Seeing the first units out there doesn't make me anymore optimistic for what's to come in the regular season though.

So I guess the success(or lack of success) with the first units didn't concern you?

Yeah, Jauron and Co. did a great job tonight. We only got our asses kicked till the 3rd stringers were in the game. Great job guys.

I agree with this part 100%.

Debate the points of the game.

The stupid name calling on players we don't like or coaches we hate just makes the post look juvenile instead of taking anything seriously.

Just call them stupid homos and move on.

Pretty much what I expected to happen so I'm not surprised. Dick's record as HC sucks, his defenses have never been in the top 10, our lines still suck, and the QB spot is not settled. Add it all up and you get 4-12 this year.

You are wrong, sir. Belichek had a losing record his first stint. There isn't any reason why Jauron can't do the same his 2nd opportunity. (sarcasm off)

This guy sucks. And like you said for being a defensive "specialist" his units have never been very special.

I think the actual execution of the plays on the field has more to do with the disparity between the talent level of the teams and familiarity of the players with each other as a unit during a real game situation.

Yes, the offense sucked when it was starter vs. starter. Yes, the defense let Carolina move at will the first drive of the game. But pre-season, especially the first game, is about evaluating players and not necessarily scoring points or winning games. I think the staff did a good job of accomplishing that.

Moorman had some nice punts. We gonna need him this year with all the 3 and outs the Offense is going to put up.

Lindell also looked good. We will also need him to be clutch this year since the Offense can't get into the endzone.

I agree with you Rat.

Jauron managed the game nicely. He told the sideline interviewer, "We're going to look at a lot of guys."

That's what he did.

How nice it is to have a head coach who actually knows what he's doing.

I hear ya. That great intelligence lead Chicago to 4 losing seasons. I can't wait to watch this guy in action.
