The New England Patriots on Friday released wide receiver Donald Hayes, a free agent who signed with the team last summer but failed to make an impact.
Hayes caught 12 passes for 133 yards and two touchdowns while befuddling coaches who thought the 6-foot-4, 220-pound receiver could contribute much more.
