How come JP is suppose to play the whole first half. What a unfair QB competition. JP gets to play 2+ Qts against Carolina's scrubs and now he gets to play 2 Qtrs. against Cincys crappy #1 D. I think Dick wanted JP all along.

Dick set KH up to fail and Losman up to play medicore and to win this QB competition.

I like what I'm hearing. Very much! The only big negative now is the need to eliminate the TOs - do that and the Bengals likely would have only 7 on the scoreboard. They need to take better care of the ball before the reg. season starts.

Based on JP's play this game, you think DJ names him the "official" starter on Monday?

Obviously, if KH or CN lights it up in the second half all bets are off.

I am not worried. It's preseason... look at how they overreacted the minute he threw an INT... then jumped back on after the TD pass. It's preseason. People need to CTFO.

Losman is this team's QB... be prepared to struggle along with him, until he starts to get it...

Here's a question for y'all.

Based on JP's play this game, you think DJ names him the "official" starter on Monday?

Obviously, if KH or CN lights it up in the second half all bets are off.

I'd like to hear your opinions.

I say yes, he's my starter. I have no clue what DJ will do though.

I would say no, he will wait till after the thrid preseason game but he will name him starter in the third preseason game

Totally agree.

This line is piss poor in pass protection.

When a four man rush is getting constant pressure on the QB, there are issues.

Not that some of it isn't on the QB, but this front four isn't close to being Carolina.

He did Nothing to lose the job today?

He threw an INT for a TD, something Holcomb did last week, at which all of you were claiming he's done in the competetion.

Not only did JP throw an INT for a TD, but he fumbled the ball...TWICE, resulting in 6 points for the other team, along with the other 7.

You don't win games when your QB turns the ball over 3 times, IN ONE HALF!

JP might've just got Holcomb involved back within the competetion.

Rightfully so, Holcomb was clearly better last year, and it seems he still is.

Why are you always looking at the negative bro?

Yes, JP has had some rough moments tonight, but he's also done more positives for this offense than any other QB on the roster... There's a big difference between a 10 year vet making mistakes compared with a guy who's started less than 10 games in the NFL.

Please don't tell me you are expecting this guy to be Joe Montana in his first preseason start of the year.

Who knows, maybe they are running some different schemes on the OL they've been having problems with... I doubt it... this line has been the biggest problem for this team the past 6 years and they didn't improve it this year, in fact it's worse than last years, no matter how many people think guys like Reyes and Fowler are "improvements".

Also, Cincy had one of the best defenses in the NFL last year with regards to forcing turnovers... are you going to bench McGahee for his fumble?

historypete
08-18-2006, 07:47 PM
According to Chris Brown on BB.com he said Reed ran the wrong route on that INT, and that the TV guys were talking about it.

With a young QB these things are going to happen. I'm willing to deal with the mistakes, even when they hurt the team if it means JP will improve down the road. He can only learn by making those mistakes, if indeed the INT was his fault. Then again he was throwing to Reed who tends to make a lot of mistakes.

Get your facts straight, I been bashing Drew since the 2003 season and on, and was as happy as can be to see him go.

Now tell me why I would bash JP since we cut Drew, when I just said I disliked Drew since 2003, and JP didn't played only minimal action after Drew was cut?

I've been bashing JP since the 2005 preseason, when Tom Donahoe forced him onto us when we already had a team in place to win football games, and Holcomb was, and still is the better quarterback then JP.
