Detroit Lions vs. Cleveland Browns.
Friday August 18 2006. 7:30 e.t.
Cleveland Browns Stadium. Cleveland, Ohio.

Joey Harrington wasn’t able to take advantage of the many weapons that Detroit has at wide receiver (Mike Williams, Roy Williams, Charles Rogers), and so he was shipped out. Jon Kitna is an experienced QB that should be able to spread the ball around to keep all his WRs happy. Cleveland head coach Romeo Crennel’s 3-4 defensive scheme is growing stronger every season, the odds are good that the Browns defense could be a top 10 defense in 2006. Sportsbook odds should favor the Browns playing at home.

Browns breakdown (updated thru August 8)
• They have added some good players in the offseason..
• Cornerback Daylon McCutcheon and right tackle Ryan Tucker will miss all or most of the preseason after undergoing arthroscopic surgery.
• The Browns' offense looked like the same one that struggled through a 6-10 season last year.
Lions breakdown (updated thru August 8)
• Coach Rod Marinelli is getting a chance to develop personnel at several positions
• It was understood from the minute Rod Marinelli arrived as the Lions coach last January that the wide receivers would be one of the primary focal points of the team's training camp.
• Defensive coordinator Donnie Henderson guarantee improvements on both sides of the ball -- with the Lions scoring more and surrendering less.
