Brace yourselves, folks. This is what you're in for with J.P. Losman as the Bills' starting quarterback, at least in the short term. It will be an adventure. Losman will lift you out of your seat one minute, cheering his name, and the next you'll be cursing him and wanting to smash a drum set over his head.
Losman showed us both ends of the spectrum in the second quarter of Friday night's 44-31 preseason loss to the Bengals at Ralph Wilson Stadium. He was brilliant and he was brutal. He made big plays - for both teams. He gave hope to his most ardent supporters and ammunition to his biggest detractors. Early in the week, Dick Jauron had declared Losman the front-runner for the job. Clearly, Jauron wanted Losman to wrap up the competition with a solid, mistake-free performance. But Losman wasn't up to it. He tried to close the door on his QB rivals and the knob came off in his hand.
