Originally posted by ICE74129I like the kid too bad he is stuck behind Brady, but I doubt that will last. Free agent = starter for another team
That said, the Pats aren't winning nothing if Brady goes down. He is the straw that stirs the drink. Maybe Cassel will develop, maybe not. Either way he is no replacement for Brady.

Originally posted by NE39He is only in his second year, so he won't taste unrestricted FA for 3 seasons (2009).

Re: What NFL QB is at 5 in pass yards & 9 pass rating
Originally posted by ICE741292 years. His contract was signed before the new CBA. He can be an UFA at 4 years and a RFA after next. From the way he is producing don't be suprised if someone steps up and makes him a rediculous offer the pats can't afford to match. hey its the price of success.
That effectively ties him up through the 2008 season, and if the big offer were generated they would get a good draft pick back.
Of course, that all assumes he continues to develop. My guess if he continues to play well when he gets a shot in preseason or the regular season the Pats will try to flip him for draft picks at some point, like Green Bay did with Matt Hasselbach.
