    OpIv37's REALLY LATE Bills/Bengals notes

Thanks to the NFLN putzing around, I just finished watching the game. Most of the game has already been discussed, but I feel the need to make a few points here:

-except for the turnovers, Losman looked good. That feels kinda like saying "except for the unwanted ass sex, jail isn't that bad". But he responded well to the INT and is making some really good throws.

-Lee Evans is the real deal. The rest of our receivers are #3's at best.

-The OL is decent at pass blocking but needs to improve on run blocking.

    -kick/punt coverage looked spectacular

-kick/punt returns looks mediocre and completely lacks explosiveness.

-Lionel Gates may have cost himself a roster spot on 4th and 1. Shaud definitely had a leg up on him tonight (although, in Gates' defense, he played against second stringers while Shaud played against scrubs).

-The D looks BAD. The starters got picked apart by Anthony friggin Wright, two backup tackles and a backup RB. There are constant soft spots in the zone coverage and it's getting old.

-Lindell looks awesome on field goals.
-Lindell looks terrible on kickoffs- Setta looked much better, but I hate to use a roster spot for a friggin kickoff specialist.

I honestly didn't give it that much thought, but since you asked, I'll go with catcher. Not that pitching is a good thing, but I guess if you're in prison it's as close to getting laid as you're gonna get.

Damn, this thread got off topic quickly.

But he responded well to the INT and is making some really good throws.
It was encouraging to see Losman 'recover' from the int. We'll see in the Cleveland game how he responds to the fumbles.

Lee Evans is the real deal. The rest of our receivers are #3's at best.
Somebody has to step up to #2 - either Price needs to get the ball in his hands, or Reed will start opposite Evans due to his blocking ability.

The OL is decent at pass blocking but needs to improve on run blocking.
The left side of the line looks better at run blocking than Peters/Villariel at this point.

The D looks BAD. The starters got picked apart by Anthony friggin Wright, two backup tackles and a backup RB. There are constant soft spots in the zone coverage and it's getting old.
I'll wait until they're actually game-planning instead of running vanilla stuff to comment on the D. The secondary has looked suspect at times, but I think the run D has done OK. Can't wait to see how they perform against the Pats.

JP definitely needs to protect the ball when the pocket is collapsing around him

                          Good points OP.

I think the defense will stiffen with Takeo in there.

good point- it's just frustrating that it took them 5 days to show it and that I had to record a different game because they couldn't get their damn schedules synced up.

I saw part of the game last night. I didn't know it was on.

The turnovers were all very ugly. We gave then 20 points on a silver platter.

JP has no awareness to check down to a TE or RB. On the fumbles he didn't even have the sense to run.
