When he was in college, it always seemed as if Derek Watson was getting another chance. He rarely took advantage of them, an attitude that finally cost him his football scholarship at South Carolina.
Now Watson, in town for the NFL scouting combine, hopes to convince some team to take one more chance on him.
Once, it would have easy. He was a high school all-American running back from Palmetto High in Williamston, S.C., who might have been a first-round NFL draft pick had he stayed out of trouble at South Carolina.
