It's a shame he left the game. He deserves the rushing award more then Emmitt Smith.

How much do you think a 35 yo RB has left? Even with 4 years off he's a long shot to win a starting job.

I agree..... It's too bad that the Lions wouldn't release his contract (or whatever the deal was), but that was his choice to give up playing. He'll have to live with it.
