ORCHARD PARK, N.Y. -- Do not expect linebacker Takeo Spikes or newly named starting quarterback J.P. Losman to play starring roles in the Buffalo Bills' pre-season finale against the Lions tomorrow night in Detroit.

What would be refreasing is if the starters on O actually complete 2 series without a penalty! :bandwagon

That was never actually said. They may play a series or 2.

So the coaching staff thinks that the starters are ready to play a refular season game? I understand that they dont want anyone to get hurt, but the offense needs more work.

I would rather see them sit and observe.

Yes, I agree. Sitting and observing wins games. especially when our O-lines need alot of practice.

Sarcasm aside, I think they should suck it up and play a half. See how well they do vs the other teams top lines.

I don't understand this "tradition". If your team is not ready to go, in synch, taking tons of dumb penalties why do you not let them play? If I were the coach I would have them playing at least a quarter to get their stuff together, because they are not there yet.

The starters need the work, they should play the first half.

Well how about the opposite team is going to pull its starters after the first series or two. That leaves guys out there that are tying to do ANYTHING to make the team...including a late hit that puts your starting QB out for the season.

These last guys are on their possibly last game period. They don't care if they hurt your starters or not.

Too many big dollar contracts.

Not worth risking injury and wear and tear.

All pretty standard practice....starters generally don't play in the preseason finale

I want to see the offensive and defensive line play the whole first half. And I want to see JP Losman play in 3 series, while Willis McGahee only sees one series.
