Patriots cut some Linebackers and some other players

The New England Patriots also made notable cuts Friday, letting go of linebackers Monty Beisel and Chad Brown and cornerback Eric Warfield. They were among 10 players cut.

The Patriots also traded rookie running back Patrick Cobbs to the Steelers for an undisclosed draft choice.

Beisel and Brown were brought in for the 2005 season to give the Patriots depth at linebacker, while Warfield, formerly of the Kansas City Chiefs and Miami Dolphins, joined the team before training camp.

Also cut Friday were wide receivers Eddie Berlin and John Stone, tight end Chris Luzar, quarterback Corey Bramlet, cornerback Vernell Brown, defensive lineman Eddie Freeman and linebacker Jeremy Mincey.

Warfield was awful, he started behind and never caught up.

The Pats CBs actually looked real strong this camp. The secondary was supposed to be a weakness, but it looks to be a strength. They lack a proven #1 guy, but they have a lot of depth and they look good in coverage.

It is a big improvement with all the problems they had last year. Right now, their biggest issue is at ILB, where having Bruschi out forces them to move Vrabel inside. Until Bruschi comes back, that is a real concern.
