First off all, your thread title sounds ridiculous.
"My honest prediction for the Bills after a strong preseason "

STRONG PRE-SEASON? Going 1-3 in the preseason and having your first string defense look like swiss cheese the first three weeks, is considered a strong preseason?? Pre-season or not, losing at home to Cleveland is a strong preseason?

Id hate to see your definition of a BAD preseason.<!-- Start Post Thank You Hack --><!-- BEGIN TEMPLATE: post_thanks_button -->

But to suggest we had a "strong preseason" is crazy.

"Despite a very inconsistent and often UGLY preseason, I expect the Bills to surprise some teams with their speed and opportunistic defense, enabling them to shock people around the league and win 10 games, in the process getting them into the playoffs for the first time in over six years."

patmoran2006

Dont tell anyone I told you this, but I think it's least only semi-ridiculous that the Bills could win 10 games.. Schedule aint THAT tough after first two weeks, and they have the "potential" to make a lot of big plays on both sides of the ball, not too mention the best special teams in the NFL.

BUT.. My point was they did NOT HAVE A STRONG PRESEASON.

Wild card here we come!

Assuming the division winners are NE, Indy, Cincy, & Denver

To get the wild card, the Bills have to have better records than 5 of these teams:

Miami
San Diego
Jacksonville
Baltimore
Pitt
KC

Not very likely.

Jacksonville was 12-4 last season. I think their schedule helped, but they are a playoff contender again. KC should be decent again. Their biggest problem is that Denver and SD are in the same division. Baltimore will be better as long as McNair stays healthy. They have to deal with Pitt and Cincy.

That still leaves Miami, SD, and Pitt for the Bills to jump over. The AFC is going to be very tough this year. I could see a 10-6 team missing the playoffs again. This is just not a good year for a team to make the jump from 5 wins to 10 or 11 wins.

I don't think the snow will be an issue for this team. I acknowledged that the Bills could beat Miami, what's the problem?

Defense look like Swiss Cheese?

Outside of a couple opening drives(Carolina, Cleveland) The starting defense consistently shut down the opponents offense.

The only thing ugly about preseason was the amount of turnovers

Well if they win the game in Buff, my prediction of 6-10 becomes 7-9. A lot will depend upon things we don't know now (injuries, how the teams have done prior to that week, etc.).

Without looking at the schedule, I'd have the Fins at 10 or 11 wins, but when I look at their schedule, I can see 12 or 13 wins. I really think that they got some breaks in the schedule. First, no Rothlisberger in week 1. Their toughest games outside of the division (except Pitt) are all on the road (Chicago, Indy). The road wins are tough to come by anyway, so it is an advange to play the tough teams on the road. For example, if the Indy and Jacksonville games were swapped, I might think that they would still lose to the Colts and home but lose to the Jaguars on the road. KC is a tough road game, but they have KC at home. Also, no west coast trips and only one game in the north late in the year. The have a3 game road trip, but it is fairly early and two of the teams shouldn't be very good. One of their toughest road games (Bears) come after the bye week.

The worst case scenario is losing to Pitt and splitting with the Jets and Bills. That is still a 10-6 season. Unfortunately I don't think 10-6 gets you in this year. Then again, if Indy has home field wrapped up again, the Fins might steal one there too.
