INDIANAPOLIS -- Undaunted by his status as the top cornerback prospect in the draft, and unfazed by the pressure of the combine, Kansas State star Terence Newman predicted Sunday he would put enough distance between himself and the rest of the cover players to leave no doubt of his pedigree.

And then Newman went out on Monday and backed up his words with some wondrous deeds in the RCA Dome.

On the final day of the combine, Newman gave the scouts plenty to watch, turning in the best all-around workout of any defensive player all week.

Newman clocked 4.32-4.34 on the watches of most scouts and one AFC general manager had him in 4.30. His vertical jump of 41 inches is NBA caliber and he also had an 11-feet, 4-inch long jump.
