All: The new Billszone site with the updated software is scheduled to be turned on Tuesday, May 21, 2024. The company that built it, Dynascale, estimates a FOUR HOUR shut down, from 8pm Pacific, (5pm Eastern) while they get it up and running. Nobody will be able to post in any forum until they are done. Afterwards, you may need to do a web search for the site, as old links will not work, because the site is getting a new IP address. Please be patient. If there are bugs, we will tackle them one at a time. Remember the goal is to be up and running with no glitches by camp. Doing this now assures us of that, because it gives us all summer to get our ducks in a row. Thank you!
Op...look at your opening post. What are they going to say about him after he makes a tackle on special teams, which is why he made the team.
Somehow I find it hard to imagine them saying "Coy Wire got beat on the play" after he makes a special teams tackle.

Athough to be perfectly honest, he might be a better fit to this defense than he was in Jerry Grey's schemes...I honestly doubt it based on what we've seen in preseason...but you can never tell

I just think he's too slow and lacks the experience. Jeff Posey gets benched and eventually cut because he's not fast enough for this D- then we keep Coy Wire? I don't get it. I know- different positions- but the Cover 2 is supposed to rely on speed. Tweeners like Wire don't fit the system.
Bowen's no speed demon either but he makes up for it in experience. Plus, in that first game before he got hurt, he was a missile on run-stuffing. Wire just looks confused out there.
Posey wasn't a special teams demon like Wire is...not that hard to get, IMO
we're talking about D. If this D needs speed, why is Coy Wire even being mentioned as a potential starter?
I'm not saying they should have kept Posey (I already had that argument with justa)- I'm saying that Wire's not a good fit for this D for some of the same reasons that Posey wasn't a good fit. If you want to keep him on special teams, fine. But Brady will light him up.
Juaron has recently indicated that the starter for SS will be a game time decision. So there is still hope Wire rides pine and Whitner gets the nod. However, will the rookie be a better matchup on Watson?

if they jam him well enough at the LOS I don't think it will be a problem.
