A wasted effort and a choke of monumental proportions.

No one (including me) except a few homers thought we stood a chance in this game. It started in the best possible way- our best player coming off an injury to force a TO for a touchdown. There were some miscues in the first half, but they were overcome to go into halftime leading 17-7 against the Patriots. Who would've thought.

Then the second half came. And it was the same old **** as last year. It looked completely different. The Pats moved the ball better and our O was completely shut down. Jauron got outcoached.

Now, we're LAST in the AFCE (behind the JETS) and Spikes and McGee are injured.

Game balls: Anthony Thomas, Spikes, Lindell (3 of 4 kickoffs in the endzone, 53-yard FG).

    Goats:
Losman for not getting out of the endzone on that safety- all he had to do was lean forward after he got away from the first guy

McGahee and the OL for not being able to pick up 1 ****ing yard.

The OL for allowing a safety

Roscoe Parrish for not being able to catch a ****ing punt

Nate Clements for a penalty that negated a touchdown by Whitner and missing open field tackles.

Angelo Crowell for getting beat on that TD

The entire D for not calling time out when Crowell was matched up 1 on 1 in pass coverage along the sideline (I bet Vincent would have called TO if he was on the field at the time).

The DL for getting owned by Maroney.

Jauron for not kicking the FG or at least calling a better play on that 4th and 1.

Greer and McGee for missing open field tackles that they were making in preseason.

Royal for dropping a first down pass that hit him in the hands and two stupid penalties.

Shelton for missing a block that lead to a sack and missing a block on the first kickoff return.

What a ****ing disaster. This team should be embarrassed because they were in a position to win and completely shot themselves in the foot.

A little overly dramatic in negativity, but that's normal.

I do agree with the general sentiment. We had a chance to steal this game and gave it back to them.

        Geez Op.

        Chill out.

And that would not have been a TD by Whitner because the refs blew the whistle.

Calling this a '****ing disaster' is a pretty big over-reaction.

when you're in a position to win a game and lose it because of a series of ridiculous mistakes, it's a disaster. This team could have come out of this game with an extremely improbable win and they blew it.

Admittedly I was very surprised at the score, but in the end, I think the reason we were in it as much as we were was because of the Pats poor play in the beginning. In all honesty I think they underestimated us (who wouldn't). But when it counted, they marched right through us and shut us down.

No, he did not say that.

The point is in this game there were a number of negaties. There were alse (*gasp*) a number of positives. The negatives did not outrank the positives 4-1 like you indicated. You focus on one mistake b JP (which really was not a mistake) instead of the positives. You ***** about the run defense and give the pass defense no credit.

In short you only look for the negative and ignore the positive.

the negatives lead to a loss. The positives did not lead to a win.

JP played well, but we still lost.

Whitner had an interception, but we still lost.

Spikes had a sack and a forced fumble in his first game back despite limited playing time, but we still lost.

McGahee looked decent and A-train was suprisingly good, but we still lost.

BTW pass defense doesn't matter if teams can run for 180 yards against us. As long as they're controlling the ball and the clock, why would they have to pass?

                          Just wondering.

Did you ever play a down?

no, but I don't see what that has to do with the Bills blowing a 10 point lead and getting shut out in the second half.

Yeah, you're right to a certain extent, Op. But you have to realize that we're playing with an almost brand new team here. It's going to take a little time for everything to gel "perfectly" and I was very encouraged by what we saw today. Losman looked really good to me. The first game of the year isn't the end all to the season.
