Wow, probably good long term value but it leaves them in a bit of a fix for now doesnt it?

i cant believe they got a first rounder for him! teams seem hard-pressed to get 2nd rounders for players better than Branch.

because they had no offense against the Lions yesterday - dumbasses should have just waited and been happy with the win over the Lions and tried some adjustments before they gave up that much compensation for the little ******...

Seattle is dumb. They should have offered a 2nd, and nothing else. Shaun Alexander wouldn't get a 1st rounder, and he lead the league in rushing yards. Of course Alexander is soft, and not exactly LT or young, but still...

the way belichick/pioli work people in trades, i'm somewhat surprised they didn't get more. it doesn't make a bit of sense, but they always get too much in return for what they offer...

I think this is a fair deal for both teams. Seattle believes that they have the squad to get back to the Super bowl and are willing to mortgage the future to make a run this season. Will Branch give them that extra boost on offense that will correct a 9 point showing against the likes of Detroit?? It certainly cant hurt.. he is a very good wideout who provides a much bigger threat than what Hasselbeck was working with on Sunday.
As for New England they certainly got something for nothing. Branch was clearly going to sit out and was not willing to play for the Pats. Because the entire league knew he was unhappy, NE was hard pressed to get a 2nd rounder and made out like a bandit with a first round pick (most likely late).

So how does a team want a 1st rounder for a guy they don't want to pay #1 receiver money?
