In this day and age, I don't know how many players you would find who would take their day off to work on helping the guy who's going to replace him - very classy move in my opinion and good for Ko and Donte to take him up on it:
"It wasn't bad," said Simpson of his pro debut last Sunday. "I was just excited to get out there, but I was trying to watch Troy (Vincent) and learn from him. Instead I was out there and tried to do the best I could."
After finding the film room a bit empty after the coaches held their respective meetings through the course of last week, Vincent extended an invitation to Simpson and fellow rookie safety Donte Whitner to come in on their off day this week to get a jump start on Miami.
"Just taking what the coaches give you is not enough," said Vincent. "When it comes to preparing for an opponent you've got to do more on your own. So I told Ko and Donte that I'm going to be here and if they want to spend time in the film room with me that's cool."
Both Simpson and Whitner plan to take Vincent up on his offer today. Simpson, recognizing the value of such an invitation, is excited about what he might pick up from the 15-year veteran.
"Troy told me he's going to try to get me ready," said Simpson. "(Tuesday) we're going to come in and he's going to show me some stuff on Miami.
