The Dolphins were willing to give Charles Rogers a contract offer on the spot if he had looked impressive. But right there in front of Nick Saban, who recruited Rogers out of high school, Bobby Williams, who coached Rogers at Michigan State, and Charlie Baggett, who was the receivers coach at Michigan State early in Rogers career, there was nothing but disappointment among the onlookers.

I remember the Madden commercial now when he first came out...."I'm Charles Rogers, had 68 catches 13 touchdowns.".....Should have been, "I'm Charles Rogers, I SUCK."

I wonder if they put a bad player in a Campbell's soup commercial, would that have the reverse effect and he suddenly plays well??

he usually disappears this time . He'll pop up again if the fins win. He'll start talking crap. Hopefully we'll win so we don't have to see his :limp: posts for quite awhile.

I heard the same thing about his tryout. From what I read, the phrase--looked like an undrafted free agent that has no speed and no hands. I missed out on his college stuf******* I would imagine he was a stud in college, did something out of a sci fi movie steal his talent???

On a sidenote--give Wes Welker a raise!

He must not be in shape. Coming out of college he had 4.4 speed. In his rookie season in Detriot (before breaking the collarbone) he caught 22-243-3 before getting hurt in his 5th game. That projects to a 70-catch season and almost 10 TDs, as a rookie.

His talent was unquestioned, and he had everything you would expect of a great player coming out of college. However, being from Michigan and going to Michigan State he was viewed as a home-town hero and between the injuries, pressure, his immaturity and suspensions he appears to have lost it all.

I don't know if he can ever get that back, he is just a reclamation project at this point. Even if he were to completely get past the injury questions (he has broken his collarbone twice) and be in good condtion, he will have to prove he has grown up.

You know, I don't think that Rogers will be on the street anytime soon:

In his three seasons with the Lions, the former Michigan State star banked $16.2 million in bonuses and base salaries. So no one need plan any telethons for Rogers, who requires another chance to get back into the league a lot more than he needs charity.

He got paid 16.2 million for what, 10 catches, lol???? Who came out on top on that one?
