one loss and they're the most overrated team in the history of sports? Please.

They still have the 2nd highest ALL TIME winning percentage of any team in college football history.

    Hater.

oh, here we go again. ND plays the Navy game as a thank-you to Navy- check the history. And every team has soft spots on their schedule- Penn St. played Youngstown St today, USC opened against Hawaii last year, etc.

Notre Dame is the LAST team that should be accused of playing a soft schedule.

why don't you talk about how they also have Michigan and USC on the schedule every year? This argument is ridiculously one-sided.

They have had powerhouses like Northwestern and Purdue a lot more - tons of games vs the bottom feeders of the Big 10- they will only play the big boys if TV waves millions at them

Northwestern and Purdue had plenty of seasons where they were ranked going up against ND- if you're going to make this statement, you should take the time to look up that data too.

Not to mention the schedules are made 2-3 years in advance and ND's athletic director isn't clairvoyant enough to know who will be ranked 3 years ahead of time.

Oh, and it seems to me that Big 10 teams play the Big 10 "bottom feeders" every year as well because, well, THEY'RE IN THE BIG 10. So I don't see how that only counts against ND and doesn't count against Big 10 schools.

Oh, and what about the portions of ND's shedule that AREN'T Big 10 over the years? Miami, Florida State, Tennessee, USC, UCLA, Penn St- yeah, ND really took it easy when they scheduled those chumps.

Oh, and how about proving that some other top football program has a schedule that's more difficult than ND's before you try to say that ND's is easy? Easier than whose and where's your proof that their schedule is more difficult?

But keep going with this line of argument- you're doing a great job so far

                    This statement makes zero sense.

ND has the power to schedule anybody - they are independant.

I have no issues with a team scheduling a cupcake here or there- especially for the season opener.

But playing the same patsies for 70 years in a row - with an average score of 25-10 each year - that's pathetic.

if you choose to be in a conference, and there are patsies in that conference, you are choosing to play patsies every year. But, then you can put the responsibility for a "soft" schedule on the conference, it's a convenient scapegoat.

Notre Dame made a commitment to those schools years ago without knowing they'd become patsies, and they have too much integrity to throw away a commitment because the new BCS system takes strength of schedule into account.

And you act like ND is the only school that has the same patsies on it's schedule every year.

Oh, and you still haven't addressed why ND continues to play USC every year when USC has been the most dominant college football program over the last 3+ years.
